Plagiarism Thresholds & Screening Process

Strict automated similarity verification for every manuscript

Plagiarism involves appropriating the ideas, processes, results, or words of another person without appropriate credit. NIJES subjects 100% of incoming manuscripts to automated similarity scans using licensed Turnitin and iThenticate software prior to editorial assignment.

Similarity Index Evaluation Status Editorial Action
< 15% Similarity Acceptable Manuscript proceeds directly to double-blind reviewer assignment.
15% – 25% Similarity Moderate Overlap Returned to authors for technical rephrasing and proper attribution within 5 days.
> 25% Similarity Unacceptable / Plagiarized Immediate desk rejection. Editorial warning issued to corresponding author.

Self-Plagiarism & Text Recycling

Authors must not recycle extensive passages from their own previously published conference papers or journal articles without proper citation and transparent declaration to the Editor-in-Chief in the cover letter.
