What a DOI means for readers

A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) provides a persistent identifier for an article. Its DOI link directs readers to the article landing page. The publisher maintains that destination if the website address changes.

  • A consistent identifier for citations and sharing.
  • Bibliographic metadata that helps identify the article and its authors.
  • A link to the published article record and available full text.

DOI registration does not itself imply inclusion in Scopus, Web of Science or other selective indexes.

Registration and publication workflow

  1. The editorial team confirms the accepted article's title, authors, affiliations and publication details.
  2. A unique DOI is assigned and article metadata is submitted for registration through the journal's sponsorship arrangement.
  3. The registration result and DOI destination are checked before the DOI is presented as active.
  4. The registered DOI is displayed on the article record and included in the published PDF. Metadata and destination links are updated when corrections are required.

Citing NIJES articles

Use the DOI link displayed on the published article page, in the form https://doi.org/ followed by the article's registered DOI. Include it alongside the authors, article title, journal title, year, volume, issue and pages where available.
